Le’Veon Bell made a big decision this 2018-19 NFL season, he was ready from Day 1 to hold out from the Pittsburgh Steelers once he didn’t get the contract extension he wanted. He forgoes for $14 million for the season, which already would have made him the highest paid player at his position.

Tuesday, the All-Pro superstar running back officially decided to not show up before the 4pm deadline and sign his franchise tag. This would make him ineligible to return this year and make him a free agent in March.

While teammates have showed him support, like star WR JuJu Smith-Schuster who tried to win the lotto to pay his man, he has not followed suit.

On Wednesday, QB Ben Roethlisberger revealed that he texted Bell just before the deadline, but he never received a response back from him.

The Steelers will have the option to designate Bell as their franchise player again this offseason, but the one-year salary tied to Bell’s third straight franchise tag is expected to exceed $25 million, something experts believe Pittsburgh won’t even entertain.
