It’s On Tap! NFL Team By Team Preview

The NFL is finally upon us. Since The Superbowl in February we have waited 7 long months and The NFL is back. Kodey Stauffer breaks down his predictions for each NFL Team:

AFC East

New England Patriots

Image result for tom brady

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Michael Bennett-DE (Trade)
  • Jason McCourty-CB (Re-signing)
  • Matt LaCosse-TE (Free Agency)
  • N’Keal Harry-WR (Draft)
  • Jamie Collins-LB (Free Agency)
  • Chase Winovich-DL (Draft)
  • Ben Watson-TE (Free Agency)
  • Stephen Gostkowski-K (Re-signing)

Notable Losses:

  • Rob Gronkowski-TE (Retirement)
  • Dwayne Allen-TE (Free Agency)
  • Trent Brown-LT (Free Agency)
  • Trey Flowers-DE (Free Agency)
  • Adrian Clayborn-DE (Cut)
  • Cordarrelle Patterson-WR (Free Agency)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 11 (over -120/under +100)

2018 Wins: 11

The Patriots obviously have taken a huge step back on the offensive side of the ball with the retirement of Gronk, and the loss of Hogan and Patterson. Ben Watson is serving a suspension after coming out of retirement to play with Brady and company, but the defense is looking strong and until Brady shows signs of slowing down, they are still the team to beat out of the AFC.

Verdict: 14-2 (Over)

New York Jets

Image result for sam darnold

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Le’Veon Bell-RB (Free Agency)
  • C.J. Mosley-LB (Free Agency)
  • Jamison Crowder-WR (Free Agency)
  • Kelichi Osemele-G (Trade)
  • Henry Anderson-DE (Re-signing)
  • Quinnen Williams-DL (Draft)
  • Bilal Powell-RB (Re-signing)

Notable Losses:

  • Jason Myers-K (Free Agency)
  • Andre Robers-KR (Free Agency)
  • Isaiah Crowell-RB (Free Agency
  • Darron Lee-LB (Trade)
  • Josh McCown-QB (Retire/Unretire)
  • Jermaine Kearse-WR (Free Agency)
  • Jermiah Attaochu-LB (Free Agency)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 7.5 (over -110/under -110)

2018 Wins: 4

The Jets are a completely new look this year. Le’Veon Bell is going to remind fans just how dominant he was, and C.J. Mosley is going to turn around the defense into a future juggernaut. In my full Season predictions, they narrowly missed the playoffs but look for a Darkhorse Jets team to make a Wild Card slot potentially. Sam Darnold has weapons this year and I’m excited to see how he progresses.

Verdict: 9-7

Buffalo Bills

Image result for josh allen

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Lorenzo Alexander-LB (Re-signing)
  • Ed Oliver-DT (Draft)
  • Cole Beasley-WR (Free Agency)
  • Frank Gore-RB (Free Agency)
  • Mitch Morse-C (Free Agency)
  • Cody Ford-G (Draft)
  • Devin Singletary-RB (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Charles Clay-TE (Cut)
  • Kyle Williams-DT (Retirement)
  • Vlad Duccasse-G (Cut)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 7 (over -125/under +105)

2018 6

The Bills are a significantly improved team this year, but I think defenses will start to catch on to Josh Allen a bit more, and he will experience a sophomore slump. I see the Bills being really competitive in a lot of their games but just not enough talent to close them out. Being in the East is going to be tough as long as Brady is around.

Verdict: 5-11

Miami Dolphins

Image result for ryan fitzpatrick

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Josh Rosen-QB (Trade)
  • Ryan Fitzpatrick-QB (Free Agency)
  • DeVante Parker-WR (Re-signing)
  • Dwayne Allen-TE (Free Agency
  • Eric Rowe-CB (Free Agency
  • Christian Wilkins-DT (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Ryan Tannehill-QB (Trade)
  • Robert Quinn-DE (Trade)
  • Cameron Wake-DE (Free Agency)
  • Ja’Wuan James-OT (Free Agency)
  • Josh Sitton-OL (Cut)
  • Frank Gore-RB (Free Agency)
  • Danny Amendola-WR (Free Agency)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 5 (over +100/under -120)

2018 Wins: 7

Josh Rosen is going to either continue to flop, but I think he will surprise people and help Miami lose out on a top draft spot to other teams that have a tougher schedule. #TankforTua

Verdict: 5-11

AFC North

Cleveland Browns

Image result for baker mayfield

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Greedy Williams-CB (Draft)
  • Odell Beckham Jr-WR (Trade)
  • Olivier Vernon-DE (Trade)
  • Sheldon Richardson-DL (Free Agency)
  • Kareem Hunt-RB (Free Agency)
  • Morgan Burnett-S (Free Agency)
  • Greg Robinson-OL (Re-signing )

Notable Losses:

  • Kevin Zeitler-OL (Trade)
  • Jabrill Peppers-S (Trade)
  • Jamie Collins-LB (Free Agency)
  • Emmanuel Ogbah (Trade)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 9 (over -125/under +105)

2018 Wins: 7

The Browns are the NFL’s sweetheart and not because we feel bad for them. Following an impressive record-setting season from QB Baker Mayfield, the Browns went to the NFL’s armory and came back with OBJ, Kareem Hunt (after week 8) as well as their homegrown talent of Nick Chubb and David Njoku to produce fireworks this year. The defense also got some soling additions in the offseason and the Browns have all the pieces to win the NFC North this year.

Verdict: 12-4

Pittsburgh Steelers

Image result for ben roethlisberger

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Devin Bush-LB (Draft)
  • Donte Moncrief-WR (Free Agency)
  • Justin Layne-CB (Draft)
  • Steven Nelson-CB (Free Agency)
  • Mark Barron-LB (Free Agency)
  • Ben Roethlisberger-QB (Re-signed)
  • Benny Snell Jr-RB (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Antonio Brown-WR (Trade)
  • Marcus Gilbert-OL (Trade)
  • Le’Veon Bell-RB (Free Agency)
  • Morgan Burnett-S (Free Agency)
  • Job Bostic-LB (Free Agency)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 9 (over -125/under +105)

2018 Wins: 9

The Devin Bush pick was a great pick by Pittsburgh that should continue to progress this Pittsburgh defense and give it a step forward into top ten territory. The Steelers also attempted to patch the secondary and we will see if it works. This team is not contending for a Super Bowl but made some good moves this season to keep them as a playoff team and build for the future.

Verdict: 11-5 (Over)

Cincinnati Bengals

Image result for andy dalton

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Jonah Williams-OL (Draft)
  • Ryan Finley-QB (Draft)
  • Darqueze Dennard-CB (Re-signed)
  • Preston Brown-LB (Re-signed)
  • John Miller-OL (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Cedric Ogbuehi-OL (Free Agency)
  • Vontaze Burfict-LB (Free Agency)
  • Michael Johnson-DL (Released)
  • Clint Boling-OL (Retirement)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 6 (over -125/under +105)

2018 Wins: 6

The Bengals feel like a team without an identity and a complete lack of direction. Sure, they have good players in Mixon, Green, and Boyd, but I don’t feel that they are confident in Andy Dalton. If Finley should see some significant time, there will be growing pains. Plus, the Bengals schedule is nothing to scoff at and most of the teams they face got better (and that includes all the teams in their division).

Verdict: 1-15 (Under)

Baltimore Ravens

Image result for lamar jackson

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Marquise Brown-WR (Draft)
  • Jaylon Ferguson-LB (Draft)
  • Miles Boykin-WR (Draft)
  • Earl Thomas-S (Free Agency)
  • Mark Ingram-RB (Free Agency)
  • Tavon Young-CB (Re-signed)
  • Marshal Yanda-OL (Re-signed)

Notable Losses:

  • C.J. Mosley-LB (Free Agency)
  • Eric Weddle-S (Free Agency)
  • John Brown-WR (Free Agency)
  • Terrell Suggs-LB (Free Agency)
  • Za’Darious Smith-LB (Free Agency)
  • Michael Crabtree-WR (Free Agency)
  • Joe Flacco-QB (Trade)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 8.5 (over +110/under -130)

2018 Wins: 10

While I predicted the Ravens to win the same amount of games this year, I believe that they will get on a roll at the end of the season and can make some serious noise in the playoffs. Expect Lamar Jackson to make serious strides this year especially with Ingram being the best RB the Ravens have had since Ray Rice. I feel like the pass-catching core is also the best it has been in years and this potential and AFC-Championship caliber team.

Verdict: 10-6 (Over)

AFC South

Houston Texans

Image result for deshaun watson

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Tashaun Gipson-S (Free Agency)
  • Bradley Roby-CB (Free Agency)
  • Matt Kalil-OL (Free Agency)
  • Tytus Howard-OL (Draft)
  • Max Scharping-OL (Draft)
  • Lonnie Johnson-CB (Draft)
  • Laremy Tunsil-OT (Trade)
  • Kenny Stills-WR (Trade)
  • Duke Johnson Jr. (Trade)

Notable Losses:

  • Tyrann Mathieu-S (Free Agency)
  • Kareem Jackson-CB (Free Agency)
  • Andre Hal-S (Retirement)
  • Jadeveon Clowney-OLB (Trade)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 8.5 (over +130 /under -150)

2018 Wins: 11

The Texans would be a much higher rated team to me if I felt like they were much better than the AFC South. The Texans lost so much talent in free agency, and they practically gave away Jadeveon for nothing. The Texans invested a lot of resources into revamping their offensive line and picking up Duke Johnson was a great move with Lamar Miller now sidelined (and potentially even an upgrade). This just is not going to be a great team with Bill O’Brian at the helm. One and done seems like the motto for this team come playoff time.

Verdict: 9-7 (Over)

Tennessee Titans

Image result for marcus mariota

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Ryan Tannehill-QB (Trade)
  • Cameron Wake-DE (Free Agency)
  • Kenny Vaccaro-S (Free Agency)
  • Rodger Saffold-OL (Free Agency)
  • A.J. Brown-WR (Draft)
  • Jeffery Simmons-DT (Draft)
  • Nate Davis-OL (Draft)
  • Adam Humphries-WR (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Josh Kline-OL (Free Agency)
  • Johnathan Cyprien-S (Free Agency)
  • Blaine Gabbert-QB (Free Agency)
  • Brian Orakpo-OLB (Retired)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 8 (over +110/under -130)

2018 Wins: 9

Vrabel is an unproven head coach stuck between a rock and a hard place with his starting QBs being Marcus Mariota and Ryan Tannehill. Mariota has not played a full season and I cannot see him getting a huge extension with the Titans. The Titans still have a pretty shallow offensive weapon pool with Corey Davis not taking the step he needs, and Derrick Henry being wildly inconsistent. This team got a lot older in free agency and not that much better.

Verdict: 3-13 (Under)

Jacksonville Jaguars

Image result for nick foles

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Nick Foles-QB (Free Agency)
  • Cedric Ogbuehi-OL (Free Agency)
  • Josh Allen-DE (Draft)
  • Jawaan Taylor-OL (Draft)
  • Jake Ryan-LB (Free Agency)
  • Josh Oliver-TE (Draft)
  • Quincy Williams-LB (Draft)
  • Chris Conley-WR (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Malik Jackson-DL (Free Agency)
  • Tashaun Gipson-S (Free Agency)
  • Telvin Smith-LB (Other)
  • Carlos Hyde-RB (Free Agency)
  • Blake Bortles-QB (Free Agency)
  • T.J. Yeldon-RB (Free Agency)
  • Donte Moncrief-WR (Free Agency)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 8 (over +115 /under -135)

2018 Wins: 5

The Jaguars look completely different this year and it starts with the upgrade at the quarterback position. Along with some good draft picks and moves to shore up the offensive line, this Jags team could potentially win the division should Foles play well, and a healthy, fit Fournette is in the fold.

Verdict: 8-8

Indianapolis Colts

Image result for jacoby brissett

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Justin Houston-LB (Free Agency)
  • Devin Funchess-WR (Free Agency)
  • Rock Ya-Sin-CB (Draft)
  • Ben Banogu-LB (Draft)
  • Spencer Ware-RB (Free Agency)
  • Pierre Desir-CB (Re-signed)
  • Clayton Geathers-S (Re-signed)
  • Margus Hunt-DL (Re-signed)

Notable Losses:

  • Ryan Grant-WR (Free Agency)
  • Dontrelle Inman-WR (Free Agency)
  • Al Woods-DL (Free Agency)
  • Andrew Luck-QB (Retirement)

Vegas Odds:

2019 Win Total: 7.5 (over -140/under +110)

2018 Wins: 10

Tough week before the season with the Colts plummeting from a Super Bowl Contender to an afterthought. Jacoby Brisset hopes to keep the Colts out of the cellar, and he will have a fairly decent defense for the first time in a while for the Colts. Look for a rebuild on the horizon.

Verdict: 3-13 (Under)

AFC West

Oakland Raiders

Image result for derek carr

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Antonio Brown-WR (Trade)
  • Trent Brown-OT (Free Agency)
  • Lamarcus Joyner-DB (Free Agency)
  • Johnathan Hankins-DT (Re-signing)
  • Clelin Ferrell-DE (Draft)
  • Josh Jacobs-RB (Draft)
  • Johnathan Abram-S (Draft)
  • Trayvon Mullen-CB (Draft)
  • Vontaze Burfict-LB (Free Agency)
  • Isaiah Crowell-RB (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Donald Penn-OT (Cut)
  • Jordy Nelson-WR (Cut)
  • Kelechi Osemele-G (Trade)
  • Jared Cook-TE (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 6 (over -120/under +100)

2018 Wins: 4

The Raiders made a lot of moves in free agency and it seems that Antonio Brown is primed to make plays this season with his helmet debacle coming to a close. While this Raiders team has improved significantly, they have a pretty tough schedule this year against a stellar NFC North and will use this as a year for experience more than anything and continue to look towards the future.

Verdict: 6-10

Denver Broncos

Image result for joe flacco

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Joe Flacco-QB (Trade)
  • Drew Lock-QB (Draft)
  • Noah Fant-TE (Draft)
  • Kareem Jackson-DB (Free Agency
  • Ju’Wuan James-OT (Free Agency)
  • Bryce Callahan-CB (Free Agency)
  • Theo Riddick-RB (Free Agency)
  • Dalton Risner-OL (Draft)
  • Dre-Mont Jones-DL (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Brandon Marshall-LB (Free Agency)
  • Matt Paradis-C (Free Agency)
  • Shaq Barrett-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Bradley Roby-CB (Free Agency)
  • Darian Stewart-S (Free Agency)
  • Case Keenum-QB (Trade)

2019 Win Total: 7 (over -120/under +100)

2018 Wins: 6

Joe Flacco was the biggest offseason move outside of a head coaching change. Flacco shows a significant upgrade at the quarterback position from Keenum, and Elway attempted to re-tool the offensive line with the signings of Ju’Wuan James, and draft of Dalton Risner, but lost Paradis to free agency. This is another team that is significantly better but faces the star-studded NFC North this year.

Verdict: 8-8 (Over)

Los Angeles Chargers

Image result for philip rivers

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Thomas Davis-LB (Free Agency)
  • Denzel Perryman-LB (Re-signing)
  • Tyrod Taylor-QB (Free Agency)
  • Brandon MeBane-NT (Re-signing)
  • Adrian Phillips-S (Re-Signing)
  • Jerry Tillery-DT (Draft)
  • Nasir Adderley-S (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Jahleel Addae-S (Free Agency)
  • Tyrell Williams-WR (Free Agency)
  • Jason Verrett-CB (Free Agency)
  • Darius Phlon-DT (Free Agency)
  • Melvin Gordon-RB (Holdout)

2019 Win Total: 9.5 (over -140/under +120)

2018 Wins: 12

Melvin Gordon sitting out this year is going to impact the Chargers more than they think. Austin Ekler is a good running back but Gordon’s bellcow status and impact out of the backfield translates to wins. The Chargers did not get significantly better in the offseason with multiple re-signings being the majority of their moves.

Verdict: 8-8 (Under)

Kansas City Chiefs

Image result for pat mahomes

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Tyrann Mathieu-S (Free Agency)
  • Alex Okafor-DE (Free Agency)
  • Emmanuel Ogbah-DE (Trade)
  • Frank Clark-DE (Trade)
  • Darron Lee-LB (Trade)
  • Bashaud Breeland-DB (Free Agency)
  • Carlos Hyde-RB (Free Agency)
  • Mecole Hardman-WR (Draft)
  • Juan Thornhill-S (Draft)
  • Khalen Saunders-DT (Draft)
  • LeSean McCoy-RB (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Justin Houston-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Dee Ford-OLB (Trade)
  • Eric Berry-S (Cut)
  • Mitch Morse-C (Free Agency)
  • Steven Nelson-CB (Free Agency)
  • Chris Conley-WR (Free Agency)
  • Spencer Ware-RB (Free Agency)
  • Orlando Scandrick-CB (Free Agency)
  • Kareem Hunt-RB (Cut)

2019 Win Total: 10.5 (over -110/under -110)

2018 Wins: 12

This Chiefs team looks very different than a year ago, but they still look scary. I believe that they got a good haul from all of their offseason trades and their aggressive moves will translate to wins. I do not think that Pat Mahommes throws for 50 touchdowns again but he won’t have to with this defensive overhaul that should force more turnovers with the Honey Badger spearheading the secondary.

Verdict: 12-4

NFC East

Philadelphia Eagles

Image result for carson wentz

Notable Acquisitions:

  • DeSean Jackson-WR (Trade)
  • Jordan Howard-RB (Trade)
  • Malik Jackson-DT (Free Agency)
  • Andrew Sendejo-S (Free Agency)
  • Brandon Graham-DE (Re-signing)
  • Jason Kelce-C (Re-signing)
  • L.J Fort-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Ronald Darby-CB (Free Agency)
  • Vinny Curry-DE (Re-signing)
  • Zach Brown-LB (Free Agency)
  • Miles Sanders-RB (Draft)
  • Andre Dillard-OT (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Michael Bennett-DE (Trade)
  • Jordan Hicks-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Jay Ajayi-RB (Free Agency)
  • Nick Foles-QB (Free Agency)
  • Golden Tate-WR (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 10 (over +100/under -120)

2018 Wins: 9

This Eagles team is going to be terrifying this year and should be one of the favorites to win the NFC. Their defense will be even better with the additions of Malik Jackson and Andrew Sendejo bringing versatility at their respective levels of the defense. Jordan Howard is an upgrade at the RB position for a very low cost, and the only thing that this team really hinges on is Carson Wentz’s health. If Wentz is healthy, this team could make another Super Bowl run.

Verdict: 13-3 (Over)

Dallas Cowboys

Image result for dak prescott

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Randall Cobb-WR (Free Agency)
  • Robert Quinn-DE (Trade)
  • Jason Witten-TE (Un-retired)
  • Demarcus Lawrence-DE (Resigning)
  • George Iloka-S (Free Agency)
  • Trsten Hill-DT (Draft)
  • Connor McGovern-G (Draft)
  • Kerry Hyder-DL (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Cole Beasley-WR (Free Agency)
  • David Irving-DT (Free Agency)
  • Jeff Swaim-TE (Free Agency)
  • Damien Wilson-LB (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 9 (over -110/under -110)

2018 Wins: 10

Unfortunately, the Boys will have Zeke in tow, and they did not lose a significant amount to free agency. Jason Witten is back so Dak can have a go-to security blanket as well as the Boys having a good blocking TE as well. Cobb is a solid WR2 and should take some of the burden off of Amari Cooper. Robert Quinn should thrive in this defense and open up opportunities for Big Money Demarcus. This team does have an intense schedule, but I’d still take the over as a bettor.

Verdict: 10-6 (Over)

Washington Redskins

Image result for case keenum

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Landon Collins-S (Free Agency)
  • Dwayne Haskins-QB (Draft)
  • Montez Sweat-OLB (Draft)
  • Case Keenum-QB (Trade)
  • Adrian Peterson-RB (Resigning)
  • Terry McLaurin-WR (Draft)
  • Kelvin Harmon-WR (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Jamison Crowder-WR (Free Agency)
  • Preston Smith-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Ty Nsekhe-OL (Free Agency)
  • Ha Ha Clinton-Dix-S (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 6.5 (over +120/under -140)

2018 Wins: 7

The Redskins made plenty of splash moves between the draft and free agency to catch headlines. These moves don’t translate to wins for the Skins this year. Keenum will start the season and I can state as a Bronco fan that Keenum is a backup-caliber quarterback and Haskins will have learning to do whenever he goes in. There aren’t any weapons on the offensive side of the ball either and the defense lost a lot of snaps in free agency. Gruden cannot scrape together enough change to beat out any other NFC East team not named the Giants this year.

Verdict: 4-12 (Under)

New York Giants

Image result for eli manning

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Daniel Jones-QB (Draft)
  • Golden Tate-WR (Free Agency)
  • Jabrill Peppers-S (Trade)
  • Kevin Zeitler-G (Trade)
  • Markus Golden-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Antoine Bethea-S (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Odell Beckham Jr.-WR (Trade)
  • Landon Collins-S (Free Agency)
  • Mario Edwards-DE (Free Agency)
  • Curtis Riley-S (Free Agency)
  • Kerry Wynn-DE (Free Agency)
  • Oliver Vernon-DE (Trade)

2019 Win Total: 6 (over -120/under +100)

2018 Wins: 5

The Giants are in rebuild mode, and they aren’t here to compete. They lost or got rid of all the talent that they had from their last playoff run, and the draft pick of Daniel Jones signals a new era in Giants football. This team is going to be bad and there’s no way to dice it up. Kudos to you if you have Barkley on your fantasy football team because that’s all they got this year.

Verdict: 2-14 (Under)

Chicago Bears

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Buster Skrine-CB (Free Agency)
  • Cordarrelle Patterson-WR (Free Agency)
  • Bobby Massie-OT (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Sam Acho-OLB (Cut)
  • Eric Kush-OG (Free Agency)
  • Bryce Callahan-CB (Free Agency)
  • Bryan Witzmann-OG (Free Agency)
  • Jordan Howard-RB (Trade)

2019 Win Total: 9 (over +100/under -120)

2018 Wins: 12

This Bears team lost a lot this offseason to free agency and their DC who took a head coaching job. This team is still loaded on defense and Trubisky should take another step in the right direction under Nagy. The offense will only be better because of another year in the system, and the defense is too talented to fail. Look for another Bears playoff team (and hopefully this one can make a field goal).

Verdict: 12-4 (Over)

Green Bay Packers

Image result for aaron rodgers

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Darnell Savage Jr.-S (Draft)
  • Rashan Gary-EDGE (Draft)
  • Adrian Amos-S (Free Agency)
  • Za’Darius Smith-LB (Free Agency)
  • Preston Smith-OLB (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • Randall Cobb-WR (Free Agency)
  • Jake Ryan-LB (Free Agency)
  • Muhammad Wilkerson-DT (Free Agency)
  • Clay Matthews Jr.-OLB (Free Agency)
  • Nick Perry-OLB (Cut)

2019 Win Total: 9 (over +100/under -120)

2018 Wins: 6

Everyone must have forgot how good Aaron Rodgers is and how much Mike McCarthy was limiting him. I feel like Rodgers will finally be playing without a ball and chain in the form of a head coach and the new coach should let him sling it. Another year in Pettine’s defense is going to show significant improvement especially with the additions of Preston and Za’Darius Smith and Adrian Amos in the back end. This will probably be the best defense Rodgers has played with in his entire career and it’ll translate to a dominant season for the Pack.

Minnesota Vikings

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Irv Smith Jr.-TE (Draft)
  • Anthony Barr-OLB (Re-signing/Free Agency)
  • Adam Thielen-WR (Re-signing)
  • Garrett Bradbury-C (Draft)
  • Josh Kline-G (Free Agency)

Notable Losses:

  • LaQuan Treadwell-WR (Free Agency)
  • Latavius Murray-RB (Free Agency)
  • Mike Remmers-OT (Free Agency)
  • Sheldon Richardson-DT (Free Agency)
  • Andrew Sendejo-S (Free Agency)
  • Nick Easton-C (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 9 (over -110/under -110)

2018 Wins: 8

The reason that the Vikings didn’t need a flashy offseason is because all of the pieces are already there. The team just could not close out games last year and that is what cost them a playoff spot and they are going to learn how to do so to make it out of a highly competitive NFC and NFC North this year. Cousins is in a huge legacy-defining season and the Vikings are hoping that Dalvin Cook can stay healthy with Latavius Murray now gone.

Verdict: 10-6 (Over)

Detroit Lions

Image result for matt stafford

Notable Acquisitions:

  • Trey Flowers-DL (Free Agency)
  • Jesse James-TE (Free Agency)
  • C.J. Anderson-RB (Free Agency)
  • Justin Colemen-CB (Free Agency)
  • Oday Aboushi-OL (Free Agency)
  • Andrew Adams-S (Free Agency)
  • Romeo Okwara-DE (Re-signing)
  • Rashaan Melvin-CB (Free Agency
  • T.J. Hockenson-TE (Draft)
  • Jahlani Tavai-LB (Draft)

Notable Losses:

  • Ziggy Ansah-DE (Free Agency)
  • Kerry Hyder-DT (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 6.5 (over -145/under +125)

2018 Wins: 6

The Lions made a TON of moves in free agency and lost very little to free agency, but this will not translate to wins. Patricia is not the answer in Detroit, and they should not have gotten rid of Jim Caldwell. Hockeson was a reach for the pick the Lions had, and the defense is not elite even with all the moves they made. Leadership is the problem in MoTown and they cannot keep pace with how much better the other teams in the North got and how much better they already are.

Paradis presents a huge upgrade for this Panthers team at the center positions, and resigning Daryl Williams insures Cam’s health and McCoy was obtained at a bargain following his release from the Buccaneers. The Panthers made smart signings in free agency to improve weak areas and they let the right players walk away. Combine all these moves with a good draft and you’re gonna have a scary Carolina team in the NFC with Cam ready to outperform expectations.

For a team that got so much better in the offseason, the Bucs are still doomed with Jameis playing quarterback. The defense will be leagues better with both the talent, and the Todd Bowles at the helm but I do not think this team will put up enough points on offense. I’d say that OJ Howard is the best player on that side of the ball and even with Arians at the helm I see this reflecting when he coached the Cardinals with the backups and reflecting that level of success.

2019 Win Total: 8.5 (over -120/under even)

2018 Wins: 7

The Falcons are ready to compete again with a change at the coordinator positions more than anything. The Falcons overcompensated at the lineman position this offseason, but I’ll be damned if they don’t have a solid running game that gives Matt Ryan a lot more to make plays with throwing the ball. This is a potential playoff team, and look for Calvin Ridley to really step up as a solid second fiddle to Julio Jones.

2019 Win Total: 10.5 (over +110/under -130)

2018 Wins: 13

Following one of the worst calls in NFL history, the Saints caused a rule change and are hungry. Murray should effectively fill the void Ingram leaves and Jared Cook presents an upgrade at the tight end positions. Gardner-Johnson will make teams regret passing on him as he makes plays in this Saints defense that will be even better than last year on Brees crusade for a second ring continues.

2019 Win Total: 10.5 (over +120/under -140)

2018 Wins: 13

The defending NFC champions made some questionable offseason moves letting Lamarcus Joyner walk and also made some stellar signings like Eric Weddle and Clay Matthews to hopefully strengthen the defensive side of the ball. They are still the team to beat in the NFC West but Todd Gurley’s health is something to keep an eye on this year and how Darrell Henderson splits snaps.

2019 Win Total: 8.5 (over -140/under +120)

2018 Wins: 10

Tough year for the Seahawks as the Legion of Boom is officially over with the last of the members departing for free agency or retiring. The Hawks invested into the offensive side of the ball and hope that D.K.’s combine proves fruitful following Doug Baldwin’s retirement. The Seahawks also got a steal for Clowney giving up essentially nothing for an elite talent on the defensive side of the ball who is an upgrade over Frank Clark who they lost. The real question is how fast they can develop their young talent and if they can make the postseason.

  • Pierre Garcon-WR (Free Agent)
  • Earl Mitchell-NT (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 8 (over -120/under +100)

2018 Wins: 4

Once again, the 49ers made a bunch of splash moves in the offseason acquiring an insane amount of talent. The unfortunate news, the verdict is still out on Jimmy G and his offensive weapons. Tevin Coleman has never been the lead back on a winning team and will be just as good as McKinnon and Breida. This is a team without an offensive identity and an offensive head coach. I think this might be the last year of the Shanahan-Lynch era in San Fran.

  • Antoine Bethea-S (Free Agency)

2019 Win Total: 5 (over -130/under +110)

2018 Wins: 3

This team was not in a win-now position but will have plenty of time to round Kyler Murray into shape as they continue to invest into the offensive side of the ball. This coach will have more than one year to turn around this team which is a tall order because of all the age the front office brought in with free agency. Kyler Murray will have a rough start with a huge decline in offensive line talent from OU to the desert. Another tough year for Zona is in the fold.

Verdict: 3-13 (Under)
