Damian Lillard Expected To Sign $191 Million Supermax Deal With The Blazers

Last night the Portland Trail Blazers incredible run to the Western Conference Finals ended with a sweep from the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors. Despite another sweep in a series Damian Lillard was quoted, “it’s better than losing in the first round.” The Blazers head double-digital leads in 3 of the 4 games but had issues holding back the fire power of the Warriors. Damian Lillard had struggles of his own, dealing with a rib injury which truly effected his shot.

While the Blazers have a lot to fix on the defensive end, they do have some good news this morning. Superstar Damian Lillard has two years remaining on his contract but is eligible to sign a supermax deal once he gets selected to an All-NBA team this summer. Lillard is now expected to sign the deal to extend his contract four-years, $191 million.

Lillard will be locked up with Portland until the age of 34 once he signs this deal. He carried optimism after last nights tough loss:

“Look at what we did this year,” Lillard told Yahoo Sports. “We played without our starting center [Jusuf Nurkic, who suffered a season-ending leg injury]. We played without C.J. [McCollum] toward the end of the season. So, looking at that, we were still able to get here. We were one step away [from the Finals]. And not only here, we had double-digit leads in three of the four games. I think getting here is reassuring that we can get the job done.”
