We all know Russell Wilson is a lock to be the starter for the Seattle Seahawks all of 2020, and we know (knock on wood) that he doesn’t really get hurt, but it looks like Seattle might be willing to add another reliable backup. Cam Newton at first didn’t want to backup anyone, but looks like Newton and the Seahawks might join forces.
A report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler stated that “the Seahawks would be open to adding Newton,” but wouldn’t pay much to the second-string quarterback. Newton originally wasn’t interested in a backup role, but it might be something he must do if he doesn’t get a job. Looks like Seahawks are an option, backing up Russell Wilson and learning from him before trying to get a starting job in 2021.
What’s odd is that Cam Newton is an MVP winner and gone to a Super Bowl himself. Weirdly enough, while Russell Wilson is a much better talent and historically better, he has zero MVP votes to his name.
One of the toughest things for Cam Newton has been not being able to do a physical for teams due to COVID-19. This pandemic is hurting him bad, teams do not trust the health of Cam Newton, but he has been working out hard and trying to make it known on YouTube and Instagram.
Newton threw for 3,395 yards and 24 touchdowns while running for 488 yards and four touchdowns when we last saw him at full strength two years ago.
