Tennis Legend Maria Sharapova Retires At Age 32

Maria Sharapova Retirement

Vanity Fair

How do you leave behind the only life you’ve ever known? How do you walk away from the courts you’ve trained on since you were a little girl, the game that you love—one which brought you untold tears and unspeakable joys—a sport where you found a family, along with fans who rallied behind you for more than 28 years?

I’m new to this, so please forgive me. Tennis—I’m saying goodbye.

Tennis legend Maria Sharapove announced her retirement today at the age of 32. Honestly it’s insane she’s only 32 since she’s been in our lives for so long and around the sport of tennis for what feels like an eternity. She’s a five time grand slam champion and winner of all four majors, Sharapova had an amazing 17 year career. Even people who don’t watch tennis know who she is. Congratulations to an incredible career.
