The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the worst teams in the NFL, and seem destined for a top-two pick in the NFL Draft this coming April. Nonetheless, the team has decided to make a change at quarterback, and will bench starter Andy Dalton in favor of fourth-round pick and rookie Ryan Finley, as reported by Tom Pelissero.

If you thought things couldn’t get worse for Andy Dalton and the Bengals, you don’t know the Bengals… they benched him, of course, on his birthday… Their franchise QB for multiple years, gets benched on his birthday…
The ultimate ‘fuck you’

What else could be worse you might ask? They won’t trade him. they bench the man on his birthday, hurt is trade value and won’t even consider trading him to a better situation because of philosophical reasons…
[Source] – “They are basically philosophically opposed to the idea of making trades,” said one NFC GM. “It’s a waste of time to call them. But we did. And it is what it is. You may as well be speaking a different language.”
I'd say that one way to undermine a QB's trade value is by benching him hours before the trade deadline, but that would assume the people running the Bengals even know that today is the trade deadline.
