Landmark Moment: Cleveland Cavaliers Hire Coach Lindsay Gottlieb As An Assistant

The Cleveland Cavaliers are set to make history as they plan to hire Cal Head Coach Lindsay Gottlieb to John Beilein’s coaching staff as an assistant. The Cavs already made a big move wooing the Michigan Head Coach to Cleveland and now are making more big moves by hiring coach Gottlieb.

As Wojnarowski laid out on ESPN.com, Cleveland general manager Koby Altman was interested in the idea of hiring a “high-level women’s coach,” which he discussed with Beilein. Then, upon meeting with Gottlieb in person, Beilein wanted her on his staff.

Becky Hammon is currently an assistant for the San Antonio Spurs, but she came driectly from the WNBA. Gottlieb on the other hand, will be the first Women’s coach to make the jump from college to the NBA.
