Jay Spencer. A hero, a legend. Defining what it really means to be someone special. The senior high schooler became the first wrestler in the school’s history to win a state title. He has made St. John Paul II Catholic School, in Alabama, very proud not just for winning the state title…
The reason this goes beyond just winning the title is because Jay is legally blind.
Spencer was diagnosed with an inherited retinal degenerative disease when he was 3 years old, according to Daniel Boyette of AL.com.
Spencer shared this message with WZDX News after winning the championship:
“Don’t let what anyone thinks about you change how you think. As long as you believe you can do something, then you can.”
