Well we know CC Sabathia has already made a boat load of cash in his long MLB career, but this still is a stinger.
While up 11-0, New York Yankees pitcher Sabathia intentionally beaned Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jesus Sucre in defense of his teammate. The Rays earlier in the game almost hit Yankees’ Austin Romine with a high and inside pitch.
Now you must be wondering where the 500k came from right?
Maybe he wasn’t aware of the fact that he was only a few innings away from triggering $500,000 in bonus money if he hit an innings minimum by making it through the seventh.
Up 11-0 at the time at just 55 pitches in the 6th inning, he was going to get that bonus… But kudos to you CC, you got your teammates back!
Don’t worry though, he got his money’s worth by letting the Rays know who that was for!
An 11-0 margin in the final game between the @RaysBaseball and the Yankees this season. Sure, go ahead and intentionally hit a person. Today's game is live on FOX Sports Sun and FOX Sports Go. #RaysUp pic.twitter.com/p4tPs06CHo
