LaVar Ball has a grand plan of getting all three of his sons on the same NBA team, and it could effect the long-term status of Lakers Point Guard Lonzo Ball.

The father discussed his plan Monday with Lithuanian reporter Donatas Urbonas:

LaMelo and LiAngelo Ball are playing for Prienu Vytautas in Lithuania, while Lonzo is in the middleof his rookie season with the  Lakers. According to LaVar, Lonzo won’t re-sign with a team unless his two brothers are with him.

Los Angeles has team options on the 2017 No. 2 draft pick through the 2020-21 season. Even if the two sides don’t agree to an extension, he would only become a restricted free agent at that point, meaning the Lakers could match any deal he receives.

Even when Ball does reach the open market, it could be a tough trying to get his brothers to join him on the roster.

LiAngelo is eligible to be drafted in 2018, but he doesn’t appear likely to be one of the 60 picks. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski explained in December that the guard has “no chance” of being taken and wasn’t on any extended lists after leaving UCLA.

Although LaMelo was more highly touted as a recruit, he is only 16 years old and won’t be eligible for the NBA for another two years.

According to Eurobasket, LiAngelo is averaging 13.8 points per game in five league appearances for Vytautas, while LaMelo is averaging 7.6 PPG in this stretch.

Considering Lonzo’s struggles to begin his NBA career, shooting just 35.6 percent from the field in 36 games while dealing with numerous injuries, he might not have leverage to control the rest of the roster and bring his brothers with him. [snax_content]
